Welcome to Landlord Accreditation Wales

How?

How do I become accredited?

By successfully completing a one day development course, agreeing to follow a code of conduct and declaring you are 'fit and proper'.

There is no fee associated with joining the scheme, but you must pay to attend the development course.

How do I sign up to the scheme?

You can either apply on-line and receive a reduced fee for booking onto the development course, or you can have a paper application sent to you by contacting the scheme administrator.

The on-line application process:

Depending on whether you are an individual landlord or part of a company, please see instructions on how to join below:

For individual applications - it is as easy as 1, 2, 3!

  1. Go to APPLY ONLINE and fill in the secure on-line application form. You will also have to sign up to the code of conduct, declare you are fit and proper and complete the terms and conditions
  2. Book and pay to attend a one day development session.
  3. Successfully attend and pass the one day session

If you are a company or partnership, the following application process has to be followed:

  1. The applicant applies on-line on behalf of the company. If you are an agent, you need to be able to demonstrate that you are part of a recognised professional body, which ensures you have Client Money Protection and Professional Indemnity Insurance.
  2. During the application process the company has the option to send out e-mail requests to its staff to invite them to sign up to the scheme.
  3. All staff actively involved in the letting and management business will need to complete an individual application (following steps 1,2,3 and 4 above). Then 2/3rds of those staff need to attend a development session.
  4. For all staff linked to the company, the course can either be booked and paid for under the company's account, or individual staff can book and pay for it.
  5. Once everything is in order, then your company will be accredited, as well as each individual staff member in their own right (subject to completing the course).

Once accredited landlords and agents will be able to benefit from the following:

  • You will be sent a certificate and copy of the scheme logo to use when advertising your business
  • You will receive a welcome pack which will include a manual to compliment the development session you attended, as well as a useful contacts list and other helpful information.
  • You will keep access to your on-line account. This account can be used to keep a record of your Continued Professional Development (CPD) and you can upload photo's of your properties which will be linked with the tenant search for accredited landlords. You can also update your contact details and access on-line news and events, whenever it is convenient for you.
  • The scheme administrator will be on hand to assist whenever they can, whether it is by arranging additional training, giving you the correct contact within your Local Authority, or just general help and advice.
