Case Studies - Masud Ahmed
Mr Ahmed is the vice-chair of Cardiff Landlord Forum, and was the Chair of the Guild of Residential Landlords for ten years. He is also a member of the National Landlords Association, and the Chair of the Student Action Group, working in partnership with Cardiff's Student Liaison Officer.
He says: "I find it rewarding being a landlord, and I am happy and proud to meet all the
requirements in relation to both the condition of my properties and my management levels.
I have always participated in the Council's Accreditation Schemes, and had all my properties accredited under the Accreditation Plus scheme. I am now pleased I am also able to show prospective tenants that not only my properties are good, but I as a landlord am professional and I have the necessary skills to run my business. That is why I joined the Landlord Accreditation Wales scheme.
I find by being a good landlord, much of my business comes from word of mouth and recommendations, and often my tenants extend their tenancies after the initial period. I take pride in being a good landlord and doing things well, and make sure I do everything I possibly can to comply with the rules and regulations regarding letting. That way I don't have to worry about the possibility of complaints, or visits from the Council, as I know I can demonstrate that I am doing everything correctly, and to a good standard.
I feel satisfied being a landlord as I offer a useful service to the residents of Cardiff."
